Benoît BESSEAS                                              Quentin MOLIERES

Océane CALMELS                                           Arianna VARRANI

Laura DAUL                                                      Taline ZGHEIB

Guillaume HAZEMANN                                Zhengmin LEI

Supervisors: Philippe GOUBERSVILLE, Olivier DELESTRE

I.                   Introduction

The topic of our team for the second week is “Structural measures for flood reduction: management of slope& management of weirs (including weir removal)”.

The day was dedicated to set up the models and continue the final report.

II.                What has been achieved?

We lost a lot of time trying to find the correct data for our models (DEM, ortophoto…). Some supervisors and some other teams had data but not representing our area. In addition, the DEM we had were taking into accounts buildings and weirs and we needed one without those, so it also took a long time to be able to get it.

Once we were able to get it, we started to set up the models, first on ArcGIS then on HEC-RAS and Mike flood. The extension Hec-geo-RAS caused many problems too and delayed us once again.

The goal is to finish the setup in the early afternoon maximum tomorrow and to run the simulations. It is hard to imagine that we can finish all the simulations by tomorrow evening like we had originally planned.

III.             Allocation of the day

This is how we allocated tasks to people:

*It means that their main tasks are not modelling but others tasks (such as video production, final reports, bibliography searches, website update…) but they are here and available to help if the others need something to be done, looked for etc. For example, today Laura and Quentin both helped Océane and Benoît on Arc-GIS for HEC-GEO-RAS.
