Today, second week of the Face to Face Meeting

09:00 - 11:30 : Conferences
    • IRSN: Protection of Nuclear Installation against Floodings
    • EDF: TELEMAC Cases of study
14:00 - 15:00 : Review of the presentation done the last week on Friday.

Many things to learn and remember for the next presentation:
    • Be extremely careful when trying to compare two graphs.
      • Verify that the axis are the sames,
      • Do not forget the axis label and units
      • Do a superposition of the curves to be compared
      • Do not show results that are not good
    • Try different models to be sure that at least one will work and do not present a model results if it's going wrong
    • Have a real part in the presentation where the answers to the answers asked are given
15:00 - 17:30 : Teamwork

We've been asked a new question that is the following:

"Impact & Consequences of numerical methods on hydrological & hydraulic models"

We have tried to select the key words in this question to be able to develop the team organization and the structure of the                presentation for the days coming.

Differents groups have been made working on the following things:
  • Introduction: Strategy / Objectives
  • (Theoretical Background) Hydrological Models: MIKE SHE (Finite differences) & HEC-HMS (?)
  • (Theoretical Background) Hydraulic Models: IBER (Finite volumes) & HEC-RAS 2D (Finite differences)
  • (Results) Hydrological ModelsMIKE SHE (Finite differences) & HEC-HMS (?)
  • (Results) Hydraulic ModelsIBER (Finite volumes) & HEC-RAS 2D (Finite differences)
  • Impact & Consequences for both
